Xbox servers are down and some people are unable to log in or play games

Xbox’s online servers went down today, July 2, with some reporting difficulty connecting games and services to the platform.

After initially making no mention of it, Official Xbox Server Status website Login Services has a “major outage”. With a server network the size of the Xbox, your mileage may vary, but not many players are able to log in. Microsoft’s own game accounts They acknowledged the server issues. “We apologize for the inconvenience,” Microsoft said.

An Xbox support account said Microsoft was “aware of some users being disconnected from Xbox Live.” The company said it is investigating the matter. Just after 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET, it issued an update that said “the investigation is taking longer than expected.” There is no word on when the Xbox Live servers will come back online.

Xbox Network, formerly known as Xbox Live, experiences server hiccups and other connectivity issues on a semi-regular basis. However, this latest downtime was significant enough to prompt fans to take to social media to complain and vent their frustration.

Call of Duty fan account Charlie Intel reports Call of Duty’s servers are among those affected by the problems today. As the Xbox network is flooded with users in the days leading up to the 4th of July weekend, Microsoft will no doubt fix the issues quickly.

GameSpot will update this story as server conditions improve, so check back for the latest.
