2357 St. James RCACC holds annual ceremonial review

Cadets of 2357 St. James Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (RCACC) put on an impressive show during their 67th annual ceremonial review held at St. James Regional High School on Sunday, May 7.

Sgt. Ocieanna Blackmore is presented with the Royal Canadian Medal of Excellence by Royal Canadian Legion president Madonna Savory.

After their inspection, the cadets performed both foot and rifle drills to the delight of officers, spectators and proud parents.

Awards were also presented to the following cadets:

- The Royal Canadian Cadet Medal of Excellence winner: Sergeant Ocieanna Blackmore.

- Exemplary 1st Year Cadet: Lance Corporal Acelyn Gillam-Young.

- Exemplary 2nd Year Cadet: Corporal Jared Coley.

- Exemplary Senior Cadet: Sergeant Ethan Simms.

- Service and Dedication Awards: Chief Warrant Officer Jadian Hibbs and Master Warrant Officer Dylan Farrell.

- Certificate of Service (Four Years): MWO Dylan Farrell.

This year also marked the retirement of Capt. Charles Osmond from the army cadet corps after a remarkable 37 years of service. His daughter, Capt. Nancy Osmond, who led the inspection, spoke about her father’s lengthy career as a leader for 2357 St. James army cadets, which ended in a rousing standing ovation.

After the ceremony cadets and guests continued their celebration with a potluck held at the Royal Canadian Legion.

Cpl. Jared Coley winner of Exemplary 2nd Year Cadet, is presented with his award by Capt. Charles Osmond.
Lt. Kelsey Barrett presented the award for Exemplary Senior Cadet to Sgt. Ethan Simms.
Capt. Sylvia Seaward presented a service and dedication award to Chief Warrant Officer Dylan Farrell. He was also awarded with a Certificate of Service (Four Years).
Lt. Shelley Hibbs presented Master Warrant Officer Jadian Hibbs with a Certificate of Service (Five Years). Hibbs was also honoured with a Service and Dedication Award.
