Slay the Gander—breast cancer survivors announce a Gander Lake adventure
Breast cancer survivors from across Canada will be taking part in a three-day paddling adventure on Gander Lake at the end of June.

St. Paul’s New Wine Choir will be having a Winter Carnival Variety Concert on Monday, March 13 at the Lion’s Club. There will be a variety of singers and music as well as skits. Proceeds will be for the ongoing expenses of the church. Come out for a fun filled evening. For tickets call Doreen at 695-3747 or Effie 695-3963.
Winter Carnival Folk Festival
The St. James’ Men's Choir will be hosting an old-fashioned Winter Carnival Folk Festival with a St. Paddy’s Day theme on Thursday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at the St. James Memorial Centre. To purchase your ticket, please call Chris at 695 3977 or the Church Office at 695-2592. All proceeds will be donated to the church to assist with winter damage. Plan to come out for an evening of delightful entertainment and bring along a friend.
Luncheon, 12-2 p.m.
The UCW will be having a soup and sandwich luncheon from 12-2 p.m. on March 17 at the United Church Hall, Port aux Basques.
Senior Men's Ball Hockey
The Port aux Basques Senior Men's Ball hockey league will be starting up again in April. Anyone who is 16 years old or older can play. Registration includes a 16 game regular season plus playoffs. The season runs from the later part of April to the end of June. Anyone interested in playing please call 694-2452.
Volunteer Peer Group Facilitation training
CHANNEL is offering a free volunteer peer support group facilitation training in Port aux Basques. The Rec House
As a drop in centre, youth from 12-18 can come by Monday to Thursday till 9 p.m., Friday till 10 p.m., and Saturday 3-10 p.m. There are darts, ping pong, air hockey, Wii games, X box games, Netflix, board games and arts and crafts available. We do have special events on our schedule and do plan specific activities for staff to involve the youth in. For more information, call 695-6901.

Alzheimer Society Information
An information session is available to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. Anyone interested in registering for the sessions should call 709-576-0608 or email email@example.com. The series is for individuals and their families diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Includes sessions on an overview of dementia, coping strategies, community resources and supports.
Are you interested in volunteering? Western Health is looking for volunteers to assist as greeters at Western Memorial Regional Hospital and Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Greeters help welcome visitors and clients and assist them in finding locations throughout the building.
