On June 2, 11 competitive swimmers traveled to St. John’s to compete at the Summer Classic Swim Meet. All achieved personal best times while competing in St. John’s. Nicholas Davis was awarded the Speedo Dedicated Swimmer Award, and Kailey Strickland and Dylan MacDougall received the Rising Star Award for the 13-14 age group.
Kailey Strickland headed to St. Pierre to compete in the Summer Splash Meet on the Canada Day long weekend, coming first in her age group and second overall.
Liam O’Brien attended the Special Olympic Games July 14-15, bringing home one gold, two silvers, and one bronze medal for his hard work.
Also in July, sisters Heidi and Sara George, along with Jake Slaney, travelled to the North American Indigenous Games in Toronto. All three swimmers achieved personal best times and enjoyed meeting new friends while earning some top placements. Sara made finals in 100 breast, while Jake brought home silver in the 400 free relay and bronze in the 200 free relay, and made finals in 100 fly, 200 free, 50 Fly, and 1500 free.
