Great story re: coming to Newfoundland and falling in love with the place! (“From Montreal With Love”, The Gulf News, Sept. 10, 2018 edition)
My wife and I started visiting in 1994, first to see L'Anse aux Meadows, then again in 1998, 2000 (twice), 2002, 2004, 2005 and every year since.
About five years ago we bought a house in Rose Blanche, and now I'm in province three times a year. The only downer is that my job keeps me in Syracuse, New York and, as a U.S. citizen, I can't spend more than six months per year in Newfoundland.
So I understand the Flood's enchantment, and if they're house shopping on the southwest coast I'd be delighted to have them as neighbors.
Once, talking to my neighbor in RB (Rose Blanche), I commented that I had never met a Newfoundlander I didn't like. He smiled, and then he pointed out that I didn't know some of the Newfoundlanders he knew. True enough, but I stand by what I said. Breathtaking island, outstanding people.
