Fogo Island Inn and Canadian quirky shoe king John Fluevog have partnered to create a shoe that will raise money for projects of the Shorefast Foundation.
The Fogo Island Vow, a limited edition of Fluevog’s Vow style of lace-up shoe, features a 2.25-inch heel and a rounded toe, and is made from mixed Portuguese leathers. The $339 pair are purple and orange, said to have been inspired by the colours of lichen growing on Fogo Island.
Fifty per cent of retail sales of the shoe will go to the Shorefast Foundation, a charity dedicated to building economical and cultural resiliency on Fogo Island.
“This meaningful collaboration is a good example of what we can accomplish when like-minded organizations get together to imagine the possibilities for honouring and strengthening communities,” said Shorefast CEO Zita Cobb in a media release.
Fluevog shoes have been around since the 1970s and are known as unconventional and quirky, worn by celebrities like Madonna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.
The Fogo Island Vow was officially launched Thursday night at Toronto’s Fluevog Distillery store. It is available in select Fluevog shops, and online at www.fluevog.com and www.fogoislandshop.ca.
