PORT AUX BASQUES, NL – The Port aux Basques Piranhas Swim Team held its year-end banquet May 3, but that was just the beginning of a busy summer of swimming for some Piranhas.

On June 2, 11 competitive swimmers traveled to St. John’s to compete at the Summer Classic Swim Meet. All achieved personal best times while competing in St. John’s. Nicholas Davis was awarded the Speedo Dedicated Swimmer Award, and Kailey Strickland and Dylan MacDougall received the Rising Star Award for the 13-14 age group.

Kailey Strickland headed to St. Pierre to compete in the Summer Splash Meet on the Canada Day long weekend, coming first in her age group and second overall.

Liam O’Brien attended the Special Olympic Games July 14-15, bringing home one gold, two silvers, and one bronze medal for his hard work.
