They played in memory of David Stone
PORT AUX BASQUES — Four years after losing her 13-year old son David, Wanda Stone manages to find a measure of comfort in the pee week hockey tournament that bears his name.
The Gander and Glovertown minor hockey associations have teamed up to host the province’s largest female tournament.
Twenty-five U15 female teams are participating.
The game opener will be the Steele Community Centre on March 23, with the host Gander Flyers playing the Springdale Bravettes.
The competition will continue until March 26. Teams will be graded into seven divisions after Friday’s results.
