Tech tips -
You wouldn't believe the amount of time I spend online reading manuals. I don't like doing it. They are usually pages and pages of boring text filled with words I can't even pronounce let alone know the meaning of.
Ever tired to figure out how to do something from Microsoft's website? Their documentation alone is enough to rot your brain. I would nominate Microsoft for worst website ever.
Wouldn't it be much better if you could just watch a video on how to do something rather than read pages and pages of garble? You might want to check out www.woopid.com
These guys have posted thousands of video tutorials for computers and other gadgets. The videos demonstrate exactly how to complete the task. You can browse the entire library, the most popular or the just listed tutorials.
Searching for tutorials is as easy as searching Google. For example, want to know how to change the password on your Linksys wireless router (something I keep recommending you do), type Linksys password in the search box, and click on the "change router password" video.
Want to know how to defragment a Vista hard drive, type defrag in the search box and click on the tutorial. How about this, do you know how to reset a frozen iPod? Found a video demonstrating exactly how to do it. Amazing stuff!
This site, totally free, gets double thumbs up from me. One word for it, excellent!
A reader in British Columbia mentioned another site of "How To" videos to me. Check out youtube.jimmyr.com (no www required)
I have been watching some of his stuff, and I tell you he has some great ideas and his tutorials are very detailed. Jimmy has taught me a few things already. Thanks for the tip, Alpha One.
