Baie Verte area disabled man targeted

A 56-year-old man confined to his wheelchair was the victim of a raid into his home on 51 Water St. in Baie Verte at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 21.

“They knew I would be here by myself,” said Ed Seymour, who lives alone.
He has a support worker for six hours during the day.
Seymour said they came in through the door as it was unlocked. He said that will likely change now.
Although five have been arrested, the disabled man said he didn’t recognize any of them, but recalls three people hitting him, causing bruising, bumps on his head, and a cut which required three stitches, while he was being confined with  duct tape.
Clearly shaken after the incident, he waited while the local police responded.
Seymour, who said he returned home from the mainland 18 years ago after his legs gave out, had to spend the night in the hospital.
“It didn’t make me feel too good,” he responded, reluctantly, still unsettled from the ordeal and what appears to be a targeted home invasion.
He said they confiscated his little bit of money and marijuana he uses to help relieve his pain.
Seymour said he was glad to hear the Baie Verte RCMP detachment has made arrests in the case.
