All provincial ferries on the southwest coast are currently stormbound, according to the Department of Transportation and Works.

According to the department's website, the Gallipoli, serving Ramea, Grey River and Burgeo, is out of service due to wind and sea conditions. The department will release an update at 1 p.m. for a possible 2 p.m. departure.

The Marine Voyager, serving Francois, Grey River and Burgeo, is stormbound.

The Challenge One, serving La Poile and Rose Blanche, is stormbound in La Poile.

Marine Atlantic is also rescheduling crossings between Port aux Basques and North Sydney.

After cancelling all crossings Monday, both crossings scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Tuesday have been rescheduled to 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Environment Canada issued a gale warning for the Cabot Strait, with wind to the north at 35 to 40 knots forecast Tuesday morning. The wind is expected to diminish to 25 knots early in the afternoon and to 15 knots in the evening.

The wind is expected to become light near midnight, and is forecast to shift south at 15 knots sometime Wednesday afternoon.

Seas are currently between seven and nine metres, but are expected to subside to five to seven metres later in the morning and to three to five in the afternoon.

Sea heights should drop again to two to three metres Tuesday evening and to one metre Wednesday morning.

The Gulf News will update our readers on the status of ferries as information becomes available.
