Heartbreak for Port aux Basques woman after trees uprooted in storm

 ..
..

Dorothy Osmond thought the walls were coming down Monday night.

Osmond lives on Charles Street in Port aux Basques and heard a noise during the storm that sounded like a wall breaking.

Osmond said she couldn't see what had happened.

It turns out two trees, planted by her grandmother, were uprooted by the wind.

"This is awful," Osmond said Tuesday. "I'm heartbroken."

Osmond couldn't say for sure how old the trees were, but she figured they'd been planted at least 60 years ago.

She said the trees had survived worse in the past, but Monday's storm proved to be too much for them.
