ST. JOHN’S, NL — The deadline to provide comments on proposed Marine Recreational Fishing Licences for Eastern Canada has been extended until Sept. 18.
For the Newfoundland and Labrador region, this consultation is focused on the recreational groundfish (cod) fishery. It is a follow up to what we heard in the region consultations held in fall 2016 on a previously-proposed licence and tags regime.
All feedback from fall 2016 consultations will be included in the recommendations on the current proposal for all regions of Eastern Canada.
During the fall consultations, it was learned the majority of the region’s participants preferred to share their comments via email or in writing. For this reason, anyone with ideas or concerns, especially those not brought forward during 2016 consultations, are encouraged to comment on this new proposal by writing or by emailing Recfish/PecheRec.XNCR@dfo-mpo.gc.ca by Sept. 18.
