Be mindful of Terra Nova National Park construction: Parks Canada
TERRA NOVA NATIONAL PARK, NL – Parks Canada is advising the public construction work remains ongoing on the Trans-Canada Highway within Terra Nova National Park.
The results of Service NL’s spring school bus inspections have been posted online.
All school buses registered in Newfoundland and Labrador are inspected a minimum of three times a year to ensure they meet provincial and federal safety standards, the department said.
Beginning in September each year, all school buses are given mandatory inspections by Service NL highway enforcement officers.
Beginning in January each year, a minimum of 30 per cent of each operator’s fleet is selected at random for additional inspections by Service NL highway enforcement officers.
The results are posted at www.servicenl.gov.nl.ca/bus_inspections.
Service NL also has an option to do additional inspections of an operator’s fleet, especially in cases where there has been a complaint.
The most recent results posted show that some 60 buses were taken out of service as a result of being inspected during the period January to June, while about 20 were placed on restricted service.
During the period August to November 2016, more than 80 buses were taken out of service and roughly 75 placed on restricted service.
In some cases, based on problems being corrected, the buses went back on full service.
