Travel in and out of Port aux Basques is once again being affected by nasty weather.

Marine Atlantic cancelled its 11:45 p.m. Tuesday ferry sailing, and this morning’s 11:45 a.m. crossing is also cancelled.

As the winds are predicted to abate in the afternoon tonight’s ferry crossings will depart on schedule.

Meanwhile freezing rain and 80-100 kilometre per hour southeasterly winds are making driving conditions treacherous both on the Trans-Canada Highway and in town. Motorists are advised to use caution.

The Port aux Basques and Area Chamber of Commerce has also been forced to postpone tonight’s annual general meeting due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 29 at the train site.
