The merchant shacks of Scott’s Cove Park lining the waterfront are one of the first things that ferry passengers see when they arrive in Port aux Basques.

The small, colourful structures are and also highly visible to motorists entering town. Small wonder, then, that it’s so popular with locals and tourists alike.

This summer three food vendors will offer a variety of treats, and the town is hoping some local artists will also choose to set up shop.

The kiosks are very affordable and see plenty of shoppers, particularly during the evenings when local bands perform free concerts featuring Newfoundland music at the amphitheater.

“We would love to see some local products such as knitted goods, wood carvings, paintings, postcards, or local artwork,” says Shauna Strickland, Economic Development Strategist for the Town of Port aux Basques.

Budding entrepreneurs can get more details by calling the town office at 695-5775.
