The real deal - almost

It has become an annual event, organized by Peaceful Communities, and it gives emergency responders the opportunity to train for real-life emergencies.

The mock car accident, which was on display from 11-3 today, gave an eye opening experience to those that viewed it on the dangers of texting/drinking while driving.

Volunteer firefighters were on scene to train with the Jaws of Life, Emergency Medical Responders and Paramedics were on scene to assess the patient, extricate and transport to hospital where nurses and doctors would assess the patient and treat for wounds.

The exercise normally works in conjunction with Addictions Awareness Week, which is in November, but due to weather conditions at that time, it's held earlier.
