Fun from Sand and Sea

The Burgeo Sand and Sea Festival was held July 28 - 31.

A bike rodeo kicked off the festival as riders rode from the ferry wharf into the park raising money for Lions Max Simms Memorial Camp.

Chairperson Doris Pink opened the festival; deputy mayor Gordon Ingram brought greetings from the town of Burgeo in the absence of Mayor Barbara Barter. MHA Andrew Parsons also complimented the members of the festival committee for their hard work in organizing the festival.

The Sand and Sea cake was cut and served.

Each day there was live entertainment in the park, with games, canteen services, while organizations served hot delicious meals for supper.

The 50 + club was in the kitchen early Saturday and Sunday to serve brunch.

A street dance was held in front of the Town Hall.

Organizations held bingos at the park and at the Lions Center.

A moonlight party was held on the beach.

A horseshoe tournament was held on the beach while lip sync and karaoke was held in the park.

The weather tried to co-operate as the sun shone through the fog while a sea breeze blew on the beaches.

Saturday night was a time to step it out to the music as people gathered into Storm Arena for the big dance.

The Sand and Sea Festival Committee thanked everyone that came and supported the festival and hopes that they enjoyed their visit to Burgeo.
