“A lot of the guys were out,” said Coach Mark Lawrence. “We picked up five new players. It took a bit of getting used to.”

By the next day, the players had it together and they won 6-2 to the Humber Valley Red Wings.

The two games left the Mariners with the first place position in the leage, three points ahead of the Central Cataracts and five points ahead of Humber Valley.

As of deadline, the team was preparing for two games against the Stephenville Jets. Lawrence said he felt confident they could take both games.

He said fan support continues to be great, with a packed house for the Saturday night game.
