Letter to the Editor -

Dear Editor,

On Monday, June 29, 2009, a news story entitled "Fisheries officers seize halibut in Codroy" was published in The Gulf News.

We would like to clarify a point contained in this story. It was reported that a fishery officer asked to purchase halibut from a harvester during the inspection.

We have discussed this with the officers who were on scene and no fishery officers requested to purchase halibut from the fish harvesters. A fishery officer did ask to purchase a fish box from the plant owner to transport the halibut seized at the scene, which the plant owner declined.
