New influenza vaccine

A new vaccine has been acquired by the provincial government called FluMist, which is being used widely throughout North America and Europe.

Western Health

FluMist vaccines are delivered through a nasal spray instead of a needle.

FluMist is licensed in Canada for people from two to 59 years of age, who do not have pre-existing health conditions. 

Public health nurses have been fully trained to deliver this product and walk-in clinics have been established for the following communities:

Port aux Basques – Wednesday, January 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.

Ramea – Wednesday, January 22 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Burgeo – Tuesday, January 21 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Doyles – Tuesday, January 21 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Residents of Francois and Grey River are advised to call the public health office in Ramea at 625-2261.

Residents of LaPoile and Isle aux Morts are advised to call the public health office in Port aux Basques at 695-6250.
