Updated - LeGrow left out of government donations during radiothon: Parsons

Burgeo-LA Poile MHA Andrew Parsons has written a letter to the premier asking why the LeGrow Health Centre Foundation did not receive government support during the annual radiothon held on Friday.

Radiothons for the health care foundations in Corner Brook, Stephenville and Port aux Basques were held simultaneously.

Finance Minister Tom Marshall and MHA Vaughn Granter appeared on the Corner Brook radiothon, pledging to match citizens’ and businesses’ donations up to $200,000.

Advanced Education and Skills Minister Joan Burke and MHA Tony Cornect donated $50,000 to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation during that area's radiothon.

“I am asking you as the Premier why your Government neglected to pledge a matching donation to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Care Foundation in Port aux Basques during the 2012 VOCM/CFCB Radiothon?” wrote Mr. Parsons.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Community Services said the LeGrow Hospital foundation did not send in a request for support in the radiothon, while the other two foundations did submit written requests.
