The investigation revealed that a group of three people had gone out fishing in a small, open, fiberglass boat that morning, and when they hadn't returned a local fisherman, concerned for their well being went out on the water in search of the group.
The local fisherman was able to locate the overturned boat with two members of the group clinging to the top of it, unfortunately the third member of the group was not able to stay with the boat and drifted away.
Shortly there after the 65-year-old Codroy Valley Man was located deceased in the water. The two other individuals involved were taken to the Charles Legrow Health Center in Port Aux Basques and were treated for Hypothermia.
