Emergency vehicles were called to Foodland in Port aux Basques around 9 a.m. Thursday morning after an employee was injured.

Several employees who were waiting outside the business said a person's hand was caught in a mixer.

Members of the Port aux Basques Volunteer Fire Department were seen bringing extraction tools into the store.

An ambulance left the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m.

A spoksperson with Sobeys Inc., the parent company of Foodland stores, said the employee is ok.

"We would like to assure you she is perfectly fine. Nothing major. I think it looked like it was a bigger situation than it was," said the spoksperson.
