The dispute was reported to have been over scheduling, but Mauger said there were other issues.
A new schedule has been hammered out and there are only a couple of issues left to be dealt with.
The staff at the service went from 15 in February when the new ownership group took over to 12.
He said lack of manpower has made the schedule an issue. “ To tell the truth, we were at our breaking point,” he said.
Meanwhile, Carey said they are very close to getting a deal, but would not say much more. There was one partner taking care of the negotiations for the ownership group.
“I’ve been told we’re extremely close, but they’ve got to check out a few things,” Carey said.
Leonard Payne, a member of the ownership group, said the schedule was taken care of.
He said there were some personal issues that needed to be taken care of, but the main thing is to get the crew back to work.
“ There are some things we’ve got to get put down and unfortunately this is Friday evening,” Payne said.
“I don’t see a lot of major problems coming now but until everybody sits down and says we agree, you don’t know what could go wrong.
“It looks like Monday before we get a done deal.”
