This tractor-trailer load of capelin bound for Nova Scotia caught fire around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning just outside Port aux Basques.

This tractor-trailer load of capelin bound for Nova Scotia caught fire around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning just outside Port aux Basques.

The driver of the vehicle said a wheel bearing seized up, causing the rim to overheat and the tire to catch fire.

Members of the Port aux Basques Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames without incident. Nobody was seriously injured.
