The nomination deadline closed in several southwest coast communities on Tuesday night. The Gulf News will be providing the names of nominees as they become available.

The nomination deadline closed in several southwest coast communities on Tuesday night. The Gulf News will be providing the names of nominees as they become available.

Port aux Basques

Port aux Basques had just enough councillors to fill all the seats, and current mayor Brian Button had no challengers. There will be no election in Port aux Basques.

In addition to Mayor Button, council will be made up of:
Bert Anderson
Jerome Battiste
Chester Coffin
Rick Farrell
Aneitha Sheaves
Gary D. White

Burnt Islands

Mayor Kevin Hardy decided against running for re-election. In his place Alfred Taylor will serve as mayor. He was appointed by acclamation.

The names on the Burnt Islands ballot will be:
Paul Strickland
Annette Hatcher
Wallace Kinslow
Charlene Chislett
Lydia Ida Thorne
Keith Edmunds
Ricky N. King
Milton Keeping
Jason Keeping
Eric Keeping

Rose Blanche

There are seven seats in Rose Blanche, counting the mayor's seat. The Mayor is chosen by the council after the election.
