It's official - Da' Rock'sThis is the Placeis the official song for Port aux Basques Come Home Year 2010.

More than 18,500 votes were cast atwww.gulfnews.caand the four contenders fought for first place over several weeks of voting.

More than 18,500 votes were cast atwww.gulfnews.caand the four contenders fought for first place over several weeks of voting.

Cathy Lomond, chair of the come home year steering committee, said the committee was pleased to receive several entries including:Party Timeby Bernie Sheaves,We're At It Againby Island Sons, andCome Homeby Debbie Jordan.

Mrs. Lomond said this was the first time the official song was chosen by voting.

"We are very excited about the results and the amount of interest expressed," she said. "We thank everyone who took the time to vote for their favourite."

Members of Da' Rock are Newfoundland natives that now call Halifax home, including Stephen Strickland, acoustic guitar and vocals; Gil Billard, bass guitar; Ryan Pearce, electric guitar; Lisa MacArthur, fiddle; and Quinton Bragg, drums. Also included are special guests Trent Dolomount on drums and Lloyd Strickland on accordion.

The band's music primarily consists of popular traditional Newfoundland tunes modernized with a rock and roll beat.
