BAND CONCERT - St. James High School will present its final concert of the year, "Tunes In June" on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. The concert will feature the award winning St. James High School Band, instrumental groups, singers and guitarists. All proceeds are in aid of the school music program. RELAY for LIFE - A celebration of survival, a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, entertainment, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer. UNITED CHURCH ANNIVERSARY - On Sunday at 11 a.m., Wesley United Church will be celebrating the 85th Anniversary of the coming together of the United Church of Canada. We will also be marking the 35th anniversary of our current church building.

ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY - Peaceful communities, come join us as we acknowledge World Elder Abuse Awareness day on June 15, 2010, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., at St. Christopher's Hotel. RIDE FOR SIGHT - Gordon Leamon will be at the Grand Bay Mall on June 15-18 accepting donations for the Newfoundland and Labrador Ride for Sight, which works toward finding a cure for the disease that causes blindness. POKER RUN - The Wreck House Riders Motorcycle Club will be hold a poker run on July 1, 2010. The poker route will be from Port aux Basques Hotel to MacIsaac & Sons, St. Andrews, Seashore Restaurant, Margaree; Highway Convenience in Isle aux Morts; and the Friendly Fisherman Cafe in Rose Blanche, then return to Port aux Basques Hotel. It will be commencing at the Hotel from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for registration. There will be a prize of 50-50 for the top poker hand. In the event of a tie the prize will be divided.The remaining proceeds will go to charity. For further information, contact Bill Francis at 695-7425.

MILITARY FAMILY RESOURCE - Do you have someone serving in the Canadian Forces? The Military Family Resource Centre invites you to drop by for coffee at the Port aux Basques Legion on June 24 at 1 p.m. For more information call Patti at 709-637-4591.

BLOOD DONOR CLINIC - The next scheduled clinic is July 26 and 27. The clinic is held at the Lions Club and you can either make an appointment or walk in services are available as well.

AUXILIARY CONFERENCE - Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting the Provincial Conference Sept. 10 and 11, 2010. They are looking for used jeans, Zest beet and pickle jars and any craft supplies that you may have to donate. Items can be dropped off at the Hospital Gift Shop or call 695-9643 or 695-9608.

GROUP MEETINGS - Al-Anon and Narcotics Anonymous meetings will be held on Currie Ave., at the same building as A.A. meetings. Al-Anon will meet on Tuesdays and Narcotics Anonymous will meet on Thursdays, both from 8-9 p.m. Confidentiality is utmost for those groups. Call 695-2984 or 696-0272 for more information. The times are 8- 9 p.m. For both groups. Open to everyone.

ARTHRITIS MARATHON - Are you interested in participating in The Great Wall Marathon in China with The Arthritis Society's Joints in Motion Team next May? Run or walk the Marathon in honor of a friend, family member or co-worker with arthritis. Call 1-800-321-1433.

BOOKS WANTED - The LeGrow Hospital Auxiliary is looking for used books and pocket novels. To donate, contact Karina at 695-9643 or Pat at 695-9608.

GIFT SHOP - Volunteers are needed to help operate the LeGrow Hospital gift shop, open daily from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Call Mary Mushrow at 695-7210 or Pat King at 695-9608 for details. Also, anyone wishing to knit items for the gift shop, with wool supplied, can call 695-2404 or 695-7210.

ORANGE LODGE - A Royal Williams #20 meeting is held every second Thursday of each month. The LOBA Daughters of Channel 819 meet on the first and third Thursdays of every month. The RBP 1161 meet every fourth Thursday of the month.

BINGOS:

- St. Ann's Centre, Upper Ferry, hosts bingo Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. For information call Phil Downey at 955-2528.

- Lion's Club bingo is held every Wednesday night.

- There is bingo every Monday at the Codroy Valley Fire Hall at 8 p.m. For information call Rick Moore at 955-2211.

CARD GAMES:

- Gateway Senior Citizens Club card game is held Mondays at 8:30 p.m.

- St. Kevin's Centre, St. Andrew's, holds card games Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 8 p.m. For information call Teri Luedee at 955-2042.

- The Lions Club hosts a card game Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

- St. Ann's Social Centre, Upper Ferry, hosts a card game Sundays and Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. For information call Phil Downey at 955-2528.

- The Royal Canadian Legion holds card games on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 p.m., as well as cribbage on Mondays at 8 p.m.
