BOOK FAIR - St. James Elementary is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair from today until Wednesday. Today is the classroom preview of the books. Tonight from 6-8 p.m. is parents' night when children and parents can come and purchase books. The book fair will be open from 10 a.m. until noon and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. During these times anyone may attend the fair and purchase books.

BAKE SALE - The United Church Women of Port aux Basques will be having a bake sale on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Grand Bay Mall.

HOCKEY NIGHT - There will be a hockey game on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Bruce II, St. James Saints vs. St. James Saints Alumni, as a playground fundraiser for St. James' Elementary. There will be a 50/50 draw and Chuck a Puck during the second intermission. Come to watch a great night of hockey and support your school.

WEBINAR - There will be a free Webinar Hearing Loss 101: Effective Communication Lunch and Learn on Wednesday at 1 p.m. You can attend via computer throughout the province (high speed internet connection required). LAST SUPPER - The Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle presents "The Living Last Supper" on Good Friday at 7 p.m. This is a dramatic presentation and there will be special singing as well. Admission is free, so come and bring a friend!

EASTER BREAK - St. James Regional High Easter Break is Friday to April 11.

DAFFODILS - Canadian Cancer Society volunteers will be selling daffodils, the flowers of hope, until Saturday. The fundraiser provides support to cancer patients in Newfoundland and Labrador. To pre-order contact the Canadian Cancer Society at 1-866-545-9533 or visit www.cancer.ca.

WOMEN CANCER - Look Good Feel Better offers a free 2 hour workshop for women dealing with all cancers and the appearance related side effects. HOSPITAL AUXILLARY - Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting the Provincial Conference Sept. 10 and 11, 2010. They are looking for used jeans, Zest beet and pickle jars and any craft supplies that you may have to donate. Items can be dropped off at the Hospital Gift Shop or call 695-9643 or 695-9608.

CURLING LESSONS - The Gateway Curling Club will be offering free lessons every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Please contact Leo Coffin at 695-7196 if interested in attending.

CADET CORPS - The 2357 St. James' Army Cadet Corps holds its regular meeting on Wednesdays at St. James' Regional High. For more information please call Capt. Charles Osmond at 695-2335, Capt. Sylvia Seaward at 695-2943 or Capt. Neville Gosse at 695-2545.

PEACEFUL COMMUNITIES - Peaceful Communities' regular meeting is every third Tuesday of the month starting at 9 a.m. at Hotel Port aux Basques. All are welcome.

BOOKS WANTED - The LeGrow Hospital Auxiliary is looking for used books and pocket novels. To donate, contact Karina at 695-9643 or Pat at 695-9608.

GIFT SHOP - Volunteers are needed to help operate the LeGrow Hospital gift shop, open daily from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Call Mary Mushrow at 695-7210 or Pat King at 695-9608 for details. Also, anyone wishing to knit items for the gift shop, with wool supplied, can call 695-2404 or 695-7210.

PENSIONERS MEETING - A general meeting of CN and MA Pensioners Association will be held on the third Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. All members are requested to attend.

ORANGE LODGE - A Royal Williams #20 meeting is held every second Thursday of each month. The LOBA Daughters of Channel 819 meet on the first and third Thursdays of every month. The RBP 1161 meet every fourth Thursday of the month.

CENTRE RENTAL - The HB Richard's Centre is available for rent. For more information call Kelly Penney at 695-3812.

BINGOS:

- St. Ann's Centre, Upper Ferry, hosts bingo Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. For information call Phil Downey at 955-2528.

- Lion's Club bingo is held every Wednesday night.

- There is bingo every Monday at the Codroy Valley Fire Hall at 8 p.m. For information call Rick Moore at 955-2211.
