MENU AND MERRIMENT

St. James' High School Menu and Merriment (a benefit dinner for the school band) Feb. 27 at 6 p.m., at Hotel Port aux Basques. For more information or tickets please contact the school at 695-3551.

CALENDARS

The United Church Women of Port aux Basques is sponsoring a Community Birthday Calendar again this year. To order your calendar you may call 695-7351, 695-7915 or 695-3376. Deadline to order is Feb. 28.

BREAD AND ROSES

The Gateway Status of Women Council's annual Bread and Roses Dinner is set for 7 p.m. on March 8. Tickets for the event, including a roast turkey dinner, can be purchased at St. Christopher's Hotel or the Gateway Women's Centre. All guests are asked to bring along a non-perishable food item in support of the Food Bank. Deadline for tickets is March 1. For more information, call the Women's Centre at 695-7505.

DINNER THEATRE

St. James ACW will be having a dinner theatre on Mar. 13 at 7 p.m. in the St. James Memorial Centre. A hot roast beef dinner/dessert will be served followed with music and skits. Come along for a fun filled evening. For tickets call Diane at 695-3777 or Kay at 695-3231.

SWIM FOR HOPE

Swim for Hope will be on Mar. 19. Please call Melanie at 695-6260 if you are interested in submitting a community challenge team or making a donation. Proceeds are going to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center and the local swim club, Port aux Basques Piranhas.

SWEETS AND SONGS

St. James' High School Sweets and Songs (An afternoon of music and fine desserts) on March 21, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m., at the school gym. For additional information or tickets please contact the school at 695-3551.

HOCKEY

The Central-West Junior Hockey League annual general meeting and election of officers will take place in Grand Falls-Windsor on Mar. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Mount Peyton Hotel. All proposed amendments or additions to the CWJHL constitution must be received in writing by no later than Mar. 12. HOSPITAL AUXILLARY

Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting the Provincial Conference Sept. 10 and 11, 2010. They are looking for used jeans, Zest beet and pickle jars and any craft supplies that you may have to donate. Items can be dropped off at the Hospital Gift Shop or call 695-9643 or 695-9608.

CADET CORPS

PEACEFUL COMMUNITIES

Peaceful Communities' regular meeting is every third Tuesday of the month starting at 9 a.m. at Hotel Port aux Basques. All are welcome.

BOOKS WANTED

The LeGrow Hospital Auxiliary is looking for used books and pocket novels. To donate, contact Karina at 695-9643 or Pat at 695-9608.

GIFT SHOP

Volunteers are needed to help operate the LeGrow Hospital gift shop, open daily from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Call Mary Mushrow at 695-7210 or Pat King at 695-9608 for details. Also, anyone wishing to knit items for the gift shop, with wool supplied, can call 695-2404 or 695-7210.

PENSIONERS MEETING

A general meeting of CN and MA Pensioners Association will be held on the fourth Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. All members are requested to attend.

ORANGE LODGE

A Royal Williams #20 meeting is held every second Thursday of each month. The LOBA Daughters of Channel 819 meet on the first and third Thursdays of every month. The RBP 1161 meet every fourth Thursday of the month.

CENTRE RENTAL

The HB Richard's Centre is available for rent. For more information call Kelly Penney at 695-3812.

BINGOS

St. Ann's Centre, Upper Ferry, hosts bingo Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. For information call Phil Downey at 955-2528.

Lion's Club bingo is held every Wednesday night.

There is bingo every Monday at the Codroy Valley Fire Hall at 8 p.m. For information call Rick Moore at 955-2211.

Gateway Senior Citizens Club card game is held Mondays at 8:30 p.m.

St. Kevin's Centre, St. Andrew's, hold card games Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 8 p.m. For information call Teri Luedee at 955-2042.

The Lions Club hosts a card game Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

St. Ann's Social Centre, Upper Ferry, hosts a card game Sundays and Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. For information call Phil Downey at 955-2528.

The Royal Canadian Legion holds card games on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 p.m., as well as cribbage on Mondays at 8 p.m.
