Happy Halloween from Shrek. Me and my husband Gerard couldn’t resist being green for Halloween.

There are so many traditions passed on for so many events. When we were children , my mom always prepared Heinz Scarios for us just before we went out Trick or Treating. We all still talk about it, and I’ll always call my mom to see if she’s indeed having Scarios for supper! I am passing on this tradition to my daughter, as well as one of my own creations. These turnovers may just be it!

1/2 pound ground beef

1 tablespoon finely chopped onion

1 cup of shredded marble cheese

1/4 cup barbeque sauce

2 tubes pillsbury biscuits

1 egg, lightly beaten

• In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add cheese and barbeque sauce; cook and stir until cheese is melted. Cool slightly.

• Flatten each biscuit into a 4-in. circle; place all the biscuits from one tube onto a greased cookie sheet. Spoon 2 heaping tablespoons of meat mixture onto each.

• Using a sharp knife or cookie cutters, cut out jack-o’-lantern faces from remaining biscuit circles( from the second tube); place over meat mixture and pinch edges to seal tightly. Reroll scraps if desired and cut out stems for pumpkins.

• Brush with egg. Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
